HAALAND CONTROLS CITY’S COMEBACK THRILLER AT REAL MADRID
Manchester City produced a remarkable comeback to secure a 2-1 victory over Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu. Erling Haaland was at the heart of the action, shaping City’s attack through his presence, movement, and constant threat. City fell behind in the 28th minute to Rodrygo, who slotted home from a tight angle after a fast break. But the response was immediate — Nico O’Reilly equalised just seven minutes later, reacting quickest to a loose ball after a saved header from Josko Gvardiol. Haaland then put City ahead with a coolly converted penalty before halftime, after VAR spotted Antonio Rudiger’s pullback on him. His movement throughout the first half constantly stretched Madrid’s defence, forcing errors and opening up space for teammates like Jeremy Doku, Rayan Cherki, and Phil Foden.
